About Us

Red Dragon Shou Shu offers students, both kids and adults, the movements, methods, and techniques they need to properly defend themselves. The fundamentals of Northern Shou Shu are divided into seven groups symbolized by seven distinct animals: the bear, the tiger, mongoose, crane, mantis, cobra, and the dragon. The focus of Northern Shou Shu is not to learn how to hurt innocent people, how to bully people, or how to be abusive to other people, but to understand these movements and learn how to use them effectively in everyday life, while gaining fundamental respect for the art, for one's own self, or for one another. The principles of Northern Shou Shu include honor, respect, honesty, and courage. Each student should expect to learn these principles while studying this art. It teaches kids discipline, honor, respect, the value of defending yourself and others from bullying and other attacks, and the value of knowing when to fight and knowing when to avoid conflict.
