Hwa Rang Kwan After School Program

Hwa Rang Kwan Muye is a traditional martial arts school established in 1971 by 9th Dan GrandMaster D.K. Shin, making it the oldest running martial arts school on the West Coast. The school is rooted in the history of Taekwondo, tracing back to the 5th century and named after the Hwa Rang, an elite warrior group from the Silla kingdom in Korea. The Hwa Rang were known for their exceptional fighting techniques, courage, and mental strength, as they faced larger forces. They were also enlightened individuals, trained in Confucianism and Buddhism, which helped them develop their internal energy, or Ki, and approach battles with a spiritual purpose. The school's philosophy is based on the original five ancient principles of the Hwa Rang Warriors, emphasizing noble and honorable conduct in training.
