Checkmat Northridge Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Checkmat Northridge is a martial arts school that teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Northridge. The school is led by coach Arnaldo Maidana, a black belt under Gilberto Gabas and one of the most exciting talents of his generation. Coach Maidana teaches children's and adult classes, both Gi and NoGi, as well as anti-bullying programs for kids. He is known for his grappling style, which has impressed the sport's hottest prospects, including Felipe Pena and Vitor Silvério. The school's lineage goes back to Carlos Gracie, the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and includes notable jiu-jitsu practitioners such as Rickson Gracie and Marcelo Behring. Coach Maidana has achieved numerous titles in competitions, including 1st Place IBJJF American Nationals (2015) and 1st Place IBJJF World Championship NOGI (2017). The school offers daily classes, both group and private, and is a great place to learn jiu-jitsu and get in shape.
