Southwest Academy of Kyokushinkai Karate

The dojo is the Southwest Academy of Kyokushinkai Karate, which is the oldest Kyokushin Karate school in the Chicagoland area. They have been in business for over 58 years and have relocated to LaPorte, Indiana. The dojo teaches Mas Oyama's Kyokushin Karate, which is a martial art that emphasizes full-contact fighting, kata, and mental and physical strength. Their classes blend Japanese tradition with modern instruction, including judo and weapon defense. The dojo was founded by the late Hanshi Gregory T. Johnson, and his legacy continues through dedicated black belt instructors committed to the growth of their students.
