Iowa City Karate

Welcome to Our Dojo Shorin-Ryu Matsubayashi is a traditional style of karate developed in Okinawa. Our training offers a balance of discipline, development of fighting skill, and physical conditioning. Classes consist of basic techniques, kata, various partner drills, and kumite. We welcome you to join our dojo and share our passion for karate. You don’t need any prior experience with martial arts to train with us. All ages 15+ years are welcome! Established in 1969, we are one of the oldest karate schools in Iowa. Students who trained at our dojo are now instructors of their own karate dojos across the United States.
