Houston San Shin Kai Iaido

Houston San Shin Kai Iaido is a traditional Japanese sword school located near downtown Houston, Texas. Our mission is to provide serious students with the opportunity to study traditional Japanese sword arts, including Iaidō, Battō-jutsu, and Kenjutsu. We focus on koryu bujutsu, which encompasses old school martial arts from the Tokugawa period and even earlier from the Muromachi period. Our practice is rooted in the teachings of Mitsuzuka Takeshi Sensei, a direct student of Nakayama Hakudo Sensei, tracing back over 400 years to the legendary swordsman Hayashizaki Minamoto no Shigenobu. As the only official dojo in Texas representing the North American San Shin Kai, we emphasize mindful practice, personal growth, and a lifelong journey of learning in the art of traditional Japanese martial arts.
