About Us
Aikido of Amherst practices to become strong, centered, connected and joyful. They practice a defensive martial art that uses fluid, circular movements to blend with the motion of an attack and redirect that motion into dynamic throws or immobilizing pins. The art also utilizes mindful breathing, relaxation, centering, and proper body alignment. Aikido is a thoughtful art that does not cultivate aggression in order to counter aggression, and it continually reveals new and interesting things to practitioners. They welcome students of any national origin, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, and socioeconomic status, and strive to provide a positive environment that is safe, friendly, and focused on the learning and development of all students.
