Shobu Karatedo

Shobu Karatedo is a community-based dojo located on Chicago's North Side, dedicated to the traditional practice of Okinawan Shorin-ryu karatedo. Founded in 2012, the dojo emphasizes a steadfast approach to martial training, drawing on the rich history and techniques of the Matsubayashi sect. The dojo fosters individual expression through free form principles, focusing on footwork, timing, distance, and spirit. Shobu Karatedo is committed to building community and continues to operate as a private group for existing members, reflecting its deep roots in the local culture and history.
