About Us
Gen-Ki Karate has been a respected name in martial arts since the mid-1960s, with Jerry Weiss taking ownership in 1974 and leading the school to national recognition. Based on Milwaukee Avenue, the dojo has produced numerous national champions and even students featured in commercials and films. Weiss himself has an extensive martial arts legacy, serving as President of the Martial Arts Karate Association (M.A.K.A.), Training Director for the Illinois State Crime Commission, and co-founder of Protect and Control Tactics (P.A.C.T.). He has also held leadership roles in major karate organizations, worked as a referee for international tournaments, and contributed to community programs such as Chuck Norris’ “Kick Drugs Out of America.” Gen-Ki Karate continues to blend tradition with innovation, offering training in karate and kung fu while fostering discipline, confidence, and success both on and off the mat.
