The Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Southern Maryland

The Jiu-Jitsu Academy offers a unique martial arts training program in the Metropolitan DC area. It focuses on the foundational techniques developed in Japan and Brazil, emphasizing striking, throwing, and grappling. The program teaches practitioners to prevail in violent encounters despite an attacker's advantages. It includes various styles such as Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Tae Kwon-Do, and Aikido. The Academy's system has produced national, regional, and state champions in various martial arts competitions. Both men and women can develop competence in the system, and members are welcome to participate in as many scheduled classes as they wish. The Academy is affiliated with the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the United States Judo Association, and its instructors undergo background checks and receive certification.
