Educational Karate Program

The Educational Karate Program (EKP) was established by Hidy Ochiai in 1984, focusing on teaching children essential principles such as self-respect, respect for others, self-control, and strategies for violence prevention. EKP promotes both physical and mental health, fostering a peaceful attitude towards oneself and others. Classes are designed to encourage collaboration among students, enhancing group unity and skill development. The curriculum, suitable for grades Kindergarten through 12, includes physical and mental self-defense techniques, violence prevention strategies, and abduction prevention skills. EKP has trained over nine hundred teachers in New York and Massachusetts, empowering them and enriching their teaching experience. The program operates in schools and encourages community involvement, making it appealing to both children and adults.
