Modern Goju Karate

Modern GOJU of Palm Bay is a karate dojo that teaches the USA GOJU Karate style, based on its own beliefs, experiences, and Sensei Peter Urban's GOJU-Ryu system. The dojo was founded in Palm Bay, Florida in 1980 by Tom Smyth, a student of Sensei William Liquori, who is a Tenth Degree Black Belt. The dojo has had over 850 students come through its doors and is the oldest one in South Florida. Modern GOJU Karate is a style that was created by Grand Master Vincent DeMarco, who was a student of Peter Urban's. The style was bequeathed to Kenneth Nilsen, the Director of Modern GOJU, after DeMarco's passing in 2009.
