The Merritt Island Karate Dojo conducts traditional Shorin-Ryu Karate classes in the authentic form handed down for centuries by the samurai. The style of karate relies on basic techniques and performance of katas, ancient exercises that strengthen physical techniques and enhance the spirit and mind. Children learn the physical aspects of karate first, but as they grow, they also learn the mental, philosophical, and spiritual aspects of karate, essential to a rich understanding and practice of the art.
