About Us

Founded in Pittsburgh in 1927, the Allegheny County Budo-Kai is one of the oldest martial arts schools in North America. Located in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, the Martial Arts Center offers instruction in the Japanese martial arts of Jiu-jitsu, Karate, and Okinawan Kobudo. The school’s longevity is a testament to its excellence and experience. All instructors have decades of training, sharing their extensive understanding of martial arts with students. The Budo-Kai is the official training center for Allegheny County, providing separate classes for children and adults. The youth program includes Chito-ryu Karate-do and self-defense for children aged 8 to 11, while adult instruction covers Jiu-jitsu, Karate-do, and Okinawan Kobudo for those 12 and older.
