About Us
Welcome to Basingstoke Aikido Club. Aikido is taught as a Japanese Martial Art in the way it was first brought to Europe by Kenshiro Abbe Sensei and other early pioneers. Derek Eastman founded the Basingstoke Aikido Club in 1968, teaching there for over 50 years. Nowadays Aikido training continues under the guidance of the next generation of instructors. We use a forms-based method of teaching, complemented by study of the bayonet arts, including knife, club, sword and staff. We are a small, friendly club, with classes for over 16s, based at the Oakridge West Community Centre in Basingstoke. Those interested in joining are always welcome to drop in to view or participate in any of our training sessions.
