About Us
Capoeira is a Brazilian cultural expression with African roots that combines various disciplines such as dance, martial arts, music, and acrobatics. It is typically practiced in groups organized in circles, accompanied by traditional music and singing. Since 2014, UNESCO recognizes capoeira circles as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The practice, often referred to as jogo, is led by a Mestre and emphasizes a friendly fight with minimal physical contact, showcasing talent and skill. Practitioners, known as capoeiristas, benefit physically and personally, gaining strength, flexibility, and self-esteem while embodying values like respect, responsibility, and freedom.
