Itokan Aikido

Aikido is a discipline of both the body and the mind. Skill is important, but it is no good without purity of the heart. Itokan Aikido, Aikikai, is characterized by high quality, a lot of attention to basic techniques, spacious and fluid movements, humor, and a relaxed atmosphere. The Itokan Aikido organization, established in 1994, is led by Joost van Straaten, the official representative in the Netherlands of Shohei Juku of Morito Suganuma. Itokan is affiliated with the Aikido Bond, recognized by NOC*NSF. In summer 2015, we moved into our own building 'Itokan Health Center', located near the center of Amersfoort. We have branches in Amersfoort, Hilversum, and Harderwijk offering Aikido for adults and children.
