Kowa Kan Dojo

KoWa Kan Dojo teaches KoKoDo JuJutsu, a modern evolution of traditional Japanese Budo founded by Soke Irie Yasuhiro in 1995. Its lineage traces back to the Takeda samurai clan through Daitoryo JuJutsu, with connections to Morihei Ueshiba (Aikido) and Okuyama Ryuho (Hakkoryu). Irie, after decades as head instructor at Hakkoryu Hombu, created KoKoDo—“Imperial Light Way Gentle Art”—to preserve tradition while making techniques accessible and contemporary. Today, KoKoDo has over 30 chapters in more than 12 countries worldwide. Training emphasizes clear, unbiased teaching of waza (techniques), blending deep tradition with Irie’s personal style, making it approachable for beginners yet profound for advanced practitioners.
