About Us

Shotokan Ryu Cavasport is a karate school located in Cremona, specializing in Shotokan karate, which originated in the Ryukyu Islands of Japan in the 1800s. The term 'karate' combines two words: 'kara,' meaning empty, and 'te,' meaning hand, emphasizing its focus on unarmed self-defense techniques. The practice of karate encompasses three fundamental elements: kihon (basic techniques), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). Kihon serves as the foundation for all karate practitioners, while kata involves executing a series of coordinated movements in a predetermined sequence, simulating combat scenarios. Kumite represents the actual fighting aspect and is practiced at varying levels of difficulty corresponding to the practitioner's rank. This comprehensive approach not only teaches self-defense but also enhances motor skills such as balance, coordination, and explosiveness.
