About Us
The dojo is called Shin-Gi-Tai Kai Osnabrück e.V. and it is a traditional Karate school that teaches the style of Shitō-ryū. The school was founded by Soke Kenwa Mabuni in 1889 and it combines hard and soft combat techniques, including strikes, kicks, blocks, throws and joint locks, in a harmonious way of 'absorbing' and 'redirecting' the energy of the attack. The school's Karate stands in direct line of succession to the founder, his son Nidaime Sōke Kenei Mabuni, 10th Dan, and his student Shihan Carlos Molina, 8th Dan, who introduced Shitō-ryū Karate in Germany over 30 years ago. The school offers a wide range of training, including Kihon (basic techniques), Kata (forms) and Kumite (free fighting). The goal of the Karate training is to develop the entire personality, including physical and mental strength, courage, humility, discipline, spirit, heartfulness, helpfulness, responsibility, reliability and patience.
