About Us

The Kangetsukai is a Shibu, a branch of the traditional Japanese martial arts school Hokushin Ittō-Ryū Hyōhō. The school is a Koryū, or an old school dating back to the time before the Meiji Restoration in 1868, founded in the 1820s by Chiba Shūsaku Narimasa. The style is known for producing excellent and well-known sword fighters, and its traditions are still maintained and taught in Japan and Europe. The Kangetsukai is a training group in Osnabrück, Germany, and is part of the Chiba-Dōjō in Munich, which is led by the 7th Sōke, Ōtsuka Ryūnosuke Masatomo, of the Hokushin Ittō-Ryū Hyōhō style.
