About Us
Kampfwerk is a non-profit sports club that teaches Ving Tsun Kuen Kung Fu in the traditional line of Yip Man, Wong Shun Leung, Barry Lee, and Bill Dowding in Nuremberg. Ving Tsun Kuen is a southern Chinese martial arts style that originated in the 17th century in the Guangdong province. It became popular in Hong Kong in the 1950-80s under Yip Man and gained international recognition in the 1970s with the help of Bruce Lee. The style is characterized by short, straight movements and is considered an in-fight system. It is relatively force-neutral due to its unique biomechanics, but a good level of fitness is still required. The training at Kampfwerk consists of practicing various forms and partner exercises, with a strong emphasis on Chi Sao, a specialized drill for practicing hand techniques and exchanging energy with a partner. The training is initially structured, but as students progress, the exercises become more free-form and are taught in the traditional Hong Kong style.
