About Us

Aikido is a defensive modern Japanese martial art that focuses on harmonizing with one's opponent. It was developed in the early 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of different Budo disciplines. The goal of Aikido is to redirect the force of an opponent's attack and temporarily render them incapable of attacking. This is achieved through throwing and pinning techniques. Aikido training does not involve competition, but rather partners work together to perfect their techniques. Aikidoka emphasizes being free in their movements and not thinking too much about each step, allowing the movement patterns to become ingrained in the subconscious. Regular practice improves flexibility and promotes concentration, coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and overall physical and mental well-being. Aikido training is primarily done without weapons.
