Modern Shotokai Karate

Modern Shotokai is a system developed by P. Kalinowski, represented in Germany by Shotokai Karate Deutschland e.V. It is rooted in traditional Shoto karate but emphasizes the ethical principle of 'Ni Sente Nashi' (no intention to attack), which applies without restriction to Modern Shotokai. The focus is on smooth and fluid movements, utilizing the energy of the attacker for defense. Modern Shotokai rejects hard competition-oriented practices and instead systematically studies the principles of body movement. It aims for a deep understanding of movement rather than mere imitation of forms, emphasizing the dignity, creativity potential, and health of individuals. The method encourages self-discovery and well-being through a connection to one’s own energy source, representing a modern approach to karate that respects traditional values.
