Mugai Ryu Iaido is an authentic martial art of the Samurai, founded in 1693. It emphasizes the deep connection to Zen and the beauty of simplicity, fostering calmness and sharp focus. The training consists primarily of Kata, Kumitachi, and Tameshigiri, conducted in a meditative and respectful atmosphere. Students learn the principles of Bushido and Zen Buddhism step by step. Mugai Ryu Iaido is characterized by its cutting techniques, requiring practitioners to be effective in combat. The training includes real swords for Kata practice and wooden swords for Kumitachi. Tameshigiri, the cutting test, is practiced with a sharpened katana. This traditional art form prioritizes both physical and mental development, distinguishing itself from modern sports like Kendo.
