About Us

The dojo is called Uechi-Go-Ryu Karate. It was established by Valentino J Cox, Kyoshi, 8th Dan Uechi-Go-Ryu, in 2007 in Adelaide, Australia. The style is a synthesis of traditional Okinawan/Japanese styles of Uechi Ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Shorinji Kempo, emphasizing the traditional Japanese karate principles of patience, courtesy, and the practical application of kata techniques to Bunkai and kumite. The dojo has several instructors, including Valentino Kyoshi, Rachel Sag (Senpai), and Connie Pokorny (Senpai). They teach various aspects of karate, including kata, attack, defense, and kumite, as well as the history and tradition of karate. The dojo aims to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for its members, promoting a culture of pride, patience, courtesy, and spirit.
