Kempo Genbu Ryu is a Japanese Kempo style, based in Sydney, Australia. It is known as Australia’s leading Kempo group, with a strong presence across the city and a significant influence in the Australian Karate community. The style is known for its effectiveness in self-defense and is considered the Parent Art of Karate. Kempo Genbu Ryu focuses on traditional Japanese Karate and Budo style discipline, with a serious approach to training. The organization has been effective in Kickboxing, teaching a unique style called Soeno Kickboxing, named after Japan’s greatest Kickboxing and Karate Champion, Yoshiji Soeno. In addition to Kickboxing, Kempo Genbu Ryu also offers a Grappling program that incorporates hand and body locks, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and teaches both ground and stand-up combat with grappling. The Grappling program is called Kempo Genbyu Ryu Broz Grappling, led by grappling master Fabricio Mendoca. The organization values Respect, Spirit, Honour, Courtesy, and Discipline.
