About Us

Capoeira Aruanda is a martial art game that gives an artistic face to combat. It is an Afro-Brazilian art that originated from the Senzalas (slave houses) in Brazil in the 1700s and 1800s. Capoeira has its roots in West African courtship and war dances and is recognized as a cultural symbol of resistance to oppression. The game is played in a roda (circle) with players forming a complex dialogue of powerful kicks, acrobatics, and theatrical movements. Capoeira Aruanda teaches various styles under the guidance of experienced instructors, including Mestre Borracha, Professor Quebra, Professor Ghana, and Graduado Capitao. The school has multiple locations in Sydney and Newcastle, where classes are held for students of all levels. Overall, Capoeira Aruanda offers a unique experience of martial arts, acrobatics, and cultural expression.
